<hi style=afpcap>The B-66 had been all but retired from service when the US Air Force stepped up operations in South East Asia during the mid sixties. There was need for a dedicated airborne jamming and countermeasures platform to reduce the threat to the fighter/bomber aircraft overflying heavily defended areas of North Vietnam. The B-66 and RB-66 was ideal for the task, as it could be fitted with the necessary equipment comfortably. There were three distinct versions, consisting of the B-66B which became the EB-66B, RB-66B becoming the EB-66E, and the RB-66C which was the EB-66C. These were stationed in Thailand for combat operations over Vietnam and remained in theatre until the US withdrew. </hi>
